Scarborough Teaching Alliance Secondary Programme

Our focus is to prepare trainees to be outstanding practitioners by ensuring they have a consistent and high quality experience, based on exposure to truly outstanding practice.

This route leads to a Post Graduate Certificate Of Education (PGCE) and a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and 60 Masters Credits.

Teaching Internship

Are you interested in finding out if teaching is for you?

You are eligible to apply if you are an undergraduate on a STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ) related degree and you are interested in teaching secondary maths, computing or physics.

You will gain:

  • Classroom experience
  • Shadowing experienced teachers
  • One-to-one guidance

Do you want to gain hands on experience in schools working alongside outstanding teachers?

You can earn £300 per week for 3 weeks during June and July

HLTA Preparation For Assessment


This programme prepares candidates to be assessed against the national HLTA standards, leading to the award of HLTA status. It is intended for teaching assistants who are already demonstrating high levels of capability and who are seeking to develop themselves professionally. It focuses specifically on how to present evidence of current practice in order to meet the national standards.

Prevention and Management of Challenging and Hazardous Behaviour, Disengagement Skills and Physical Intervention Skills

  • The course focuses on restraint reduction, primary and preventative strategies for the management of disruptive and challenging behaviours. It also covers positive responses to physically challenging or hazardous behaviours.
